Sam Garrett is 23 years old and aims to inspire and share his experience with you all through music.
He grew up in a little village in the countryside of England and began playing guitar at around 7/8 years old, he was always drawn to music and began playing in bands from about 15 to 19 years old.
He found that a change was occupying him in a way he couldn’t explain so he would just write songs about it instead and this became the Be easy EP.
He found himself drifting away from what most of the people his age were doing like going out, getting drunk and so on and found himself spending more and more time in nature, usually alone with his two dogs just drifting along as if time would just stop and he began to have profound spiritual experiences which at the time made him feel alienated from his culture as it didn’t reflect this connection he felt in nature.
So he carried on for a little while playing his songs here and there and working in his family’s coffee shop called Skinny Kitten. He began to swing in and out of these states and started to look on the internet for what he felt inside. He was amazed and comforted that so many people felt they were on the same path.
A little bit laterhe went to live in an ashram to learn more about this way of life and to be in the presence of other beings who felt the same.
He didn’t take his guitar as music had become a struggle to make his voice heard among all the others telling him what to do and how it’s done in the industry etc. So he felt that he needed to just get away and be around people who weren’t competing they were just being.
So the first few days was really great getting to meet new people they went walking barefoot across all these hills and he began reading Hindu books that were given to him and just learning in general. They would go out into the streets to feed homeless people for free and the ashram would hold free events where people could join together and sing side by side in a loving embrace which gripped him.
He started to see that it was no longer about him and about what he could get out of it but how he could help others, and in doing s,o find happiness knowing that he had made others feel good.
He started to have this great impulse when sitting in meditation to grab the guitar in the corner and play, it’s as if this force within him wants to express and the only way he knows how to do that is through music.
It became stronger and stronger and realised that his music is a way for him to heal the world and comfort people through his songs. That before he was really wrapped up in the whole game of music and forgotten that it’s not about him it’s about using your abilities to help make the world a better place to live in.
After a few days songs started to pour out of him as if they were pre written and he was just the messenger delivering them.
He have since moved to London where he hope to record these new songs and release them to offer his contribution to humanity and the earth as a whole.
He believe it is important to be truthful and to do only such actions which are beneficial to you and your fellow beings and he truly believe that we are coming into an age of awareness where more people are waking up to who they truly are and what their purpose is in life.
